Tradition and innovation are two words that best describe our approach to this years Barrel aged-Executioners Imperial Stout. This year's release was aged in a combination of Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels and Double Oaked Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels for 10 months. The barrel notes are detectable in the first sip with notes of bourbon, roast, and charred oak. The beer was removed and blended creating the base beer aged on cacao nibs for bittersweet chocolate notes pairing with the intense roast and coffee flavors from the beer. We have added real coconut puree to this barrel aged beer this year to compliment the barrel characteristics and the stout; it's a new a fresh approach to the evolution of this classic Imperial Stout we call Executioners-drink it fresh now as it has already been aged.
